Hello Bolden 5th grade families! 

 
This is the last year of elementary school for our kids and we are working hard to make this a great year for all! 5th grade is such a special time. We want to make this school year fun and memorable, and celebrate with all the milestone events they're looking forward to.
 
We've met with 5th grade teacher reps and building leaders, and are coordinating with them on events, projects, field trips, and moving-on celebrations.  Please see below for information on upcoming events.

Event Details / Descriptions: 

 

5th Grade Sweatshirt:

The Delia Bolden 5th Grade Sweatshirts are now on sale - orders will be accepted from October 10 to October 26, 2023. The Class of 2031 sweatshirt will have their high school graduation year on the front and back, and both SOMA (on the front) and MAPSO (on the back) will be represented. And there is the option of putting your child's name on the sleeve (max. 24 characters).

 

Because the sweatshirt has their high school graduation year on it, it is meant to be worn for years to come, so please choose the size accordingly. This is, of course, a personal preference, but many students size up and choose to grow into their sweatshirt.

 

A few things to note:

  • The sweatshirts will remain red in color (as opposed to Bolden Blue). This matches the school colors of MMS. SOMS, and Columbia High School.
  • Because the sweatshirts are customized, all sales are final and non-refundable.
  • Sweatshirts will be ready 3-4 weeks after the close of the sale (end of November) and they will be delivered directly to the classrooms.
  • This is fully optional and there is no pressure on parents/caregivers to purchase. That said, the PTA will work with Ms. Francis (our school social worker) to provide confidential financial assistance to anyone who requests it. Yearbook Photo Requests:

When sending your photos, please tell us your child's name and their homeroom teacher. If there are other students in the photo, please include their full names as well.

At this time, we are asking for photos in the following categories:
  • Baby photo - a baby photo of your child (younger than 2-years-old)
  • Remember When
  • Extracurricular Activities -  sports, performing arts, visual arts, volunteer work, anything at all
  • Band/Orchestra/Chorus - a photo of your child learning their instrument at home or performing at school.
 Special Yearbook Photo Request:
  • Sea of Blue - please send a photo of your child wearing Bolden Blue (their Bolden sweatshirt, 5th grade t-shirt or any plain shirt in blue). We would like to have every 5th grader at Bolden represented on these pages.

Yearbook Consent for Publicity/Photo Release:

We need your consent to publish photos of your child in the yearbook.  Click here to complete the Consent for Publicity/Photo Release.

 
Preferred Name Survey:
For both the yearbook and for the 5th grade t-shirt, please let us know what name your child would like to use. The deadline to submit the Preferred Name Survey is XXX, afterwards their full legal name will be used.

Purchase your 5th Grade Yearbook:

The Delia Bolden 2023-2024 yearbook will be a full-color, 100-page collection of photos and memories. Purchase price is $XX.  Books will be distributed at the end of the school year; more information will be communicated in June.  

 

No student will be excluded because of the inability to pay, please select the financial need option (online or on paper form) and the Delia Bolden PTA will cover costs.
